So many things to do in the Docklands with children this summer - and kids eat free at the Fox Excel!
The Docklands in the east of London is our home and we’re so excited to share some of our favourite activities to do with kids this summer in our local area. What’s even better, is that after you’ve tired them out, you can pop to the Fox and the little ones can eat free (conditions apply - adults must purchase a main meal - full details below or ask your server).
5 fun activities for families this summer
1. Fly over the Thames Enjoy London from the sky in a cable car that flies 90m above the River Thames between the Greenwich Peninsula and the Royal Docks. It’s accessible for buggies, wheelchair users, and for cyclists. What can you spot from high in the sky?
2. The Line - Sculpture Trail FREE East London’s public art trail runs between the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and the O2, following the waterways and the Meridien line. There’s art and sculptures on display so lots to see and explore, and the majority of the walk is accessible.
3. Pirates - Wapping FREE The Docklands were once a key London port, so that means ships and pirates! See if you can find two pirate shops and Execution Dock, where pirates were hanged and in the worst cases, tarred and feathered for all to see. Captain Kidd died here and his body displayed for 3 years as a warning to other pirates - yuk! Maybe dress up as a pirate and enjoy exploring the waterways and secret places.
4. Surrey Docks Farm - FREE (but donations welcomed) A working city farm where you can learn about farming, food production and the natural environment. Open from 10am-4pm every day and the site is accessible. Access the main farm site through the Thames path gates, head towards the goat yard and follow the path on a one-way route circling our fields, taking in all the animals. No advance booking is required and well-behaved dogs on leads welcome.
5. Museum of Docklands - West India Quay FREE Situated in an old Dockland’s warehouse, this museum showcases the rich history of the area through interactive exhibits where children can dress up and pretend they’ve gone back in time. There’s so much to see in this museum that you’ll want to revisit again and again!
Make the Docklands part of your holiday plans this summer and don’t forget to visit us at the Fox for your free kids main meal*!
